Optimising your Google Product Feed

XML Product Feed Optimisation
Like this chess set example, popping products into Google Base/Froogle or GPS - or whatever they decide to call it when you’re reading this - carries the difficulty of constructing an XML feed that needs to be optimised for good exposure within the results shown. To get one-boxed (shown in the search results at the top of the page for ‘Product Search Results’) is a boon for the company that can construct the feed. We only know of one company that offers the service of writing the XML feed and optimising it so that the possibility of getting one-boxed is possible.

  1. The result is currently on page 4 of Google.co.uk for the search phrase ‘chess sets’ although it had been dropped from the results for several days - it’s now back. It really looks like the search results can be aided by good Google product search optimisation - but I’ll keep everyone informed.

  2. Update - It disappeared for a few days - then reappeared in the SERPS - It’s now on Page 3 for ‘chess sets’ in Goog UK and page 4 for the singular term ‘chess set’

  3. The feed is now on page 1! A search in Google.co.uk for either ‘chess set’ or ‘chess sets’ results in one of the organic results being on page 1 of the serps. Amazing.
